Tyler Koteskey, a freshman student activist at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) organized a rally last month for Ron Paul, drawing more than 7,000 attendees and the attention of the national media.
The lines to enter the Straus Stadium at the Los Angeles Tennis Center (LATC) were like those at a rock concert, stretching for long blocks of the campus with excited students organized to see Dr. Paul.
Editor's note: The author, Kasey Ashford, is a senior at Cornell University and the president of the Cornell Libertarian Club. Contact Kasey at kda25@cornell.edu. Cornell's ILR School did not respond to CampusReform.org's repeated attempts for a statement about Union Days.
This year's keynote speaker, American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten, emphasized several times that unions are "the only vehicle for enabling Americans." Some professors required their students to attend the speech.
The ILR School is one of many units at Cornell that receives state funding. New York taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize the delivery of ILR's big-labor, pro-union, socialist worldview. IRL pushes this worldview on students in courses, campus lectures, and the Union Days activism week.
In order to combat the university's pro-union indoctrination attempt, the Cornell Libertarian Club organized a mock "Unionized Ice Cream Sundae Stand" on campus to demonstrate the downsides of labor unions. We worked with Justin Pulliam, CampuReform.org's Northeast Regional Field Coordinator to plan the event, which took place on Friday, April 13, 2012. CampusReform.org also helped us make a video of the ice cream stand activism.
On March, 6, 2012 at Syracuse University, Lord Christopher Monckton finished his week-long New York state tour. His talk, the Climate of Freedom, combined scientific research with a strong moral appeal for prudent public policies.
On March 5, 2012, Lord Monckton made an exciting visit to Union College in Schenectady, New York to encourage logic and reason when considering climate change policy. CampusReform.org video streamed the lecture live, and a video recording is available here.
Tonight at Union College in Schenectady, New York, Lord Monckton will be the keynote speaker for Union College Collegians for a Constructive Tomorrow’s (CFACT) controversial “Climate of Freedom” event.
The event will begin on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 5:30pm EST. The event, which will take place in Reamer Campus Center Auditorium, is free and open to the public.

Syracuse University recently tried to expel one of its graduate students for making a statement on his Facebook page regarding a racially charged comment made towards him. Mark Werenczak, a graduate student studying education at Syracuse, had been volunteering his time as a teacher at a struggling inner city middle school, when he encountered a black community leader from the Concerned Citizen's Action Program. The community leader expressed his opinion that more teachers who taught at schools in the city should come from historically black colleges.
Werekczek expressed his frustration that day on his Facebook page. In the comments, he said, 'Just making sure we’re okay with racism. It‘s not enough I’m … tutoring in the worst school in the city, I suppose I oughta be black or stay in my own side of town.' Werenczak also stated, 'it kind of offends me that I’m basically volunteering the summer at Danforth, getting up at 630, with no AC, to help tutor kids and that’s not enough.'
When it comes to the sanctity of human life, the University of Scranton is sending mixed messages.
The Jesuit university in Scranton, PA will be hosting "Ready to Run", a campaign training to encourage more women to hold political office. The keynote speaker for the program is Marjorie Margolies-Mevinsky, a former Democratic Congresswoman. The problem? Margolies has been one of the nation's leading advocates for "abortion rights".
While in Congress, Margolies voted for federal funding for Planned Parenthood and was an outspoken critic of the pro-life movement. She also opposed the Hyde Amendment which bars the use of certain funds for performing abortions.
Fr. Richard G. Malloy, Vice President of University Ministries at Scranton University, spoke for the Catholic Church, the billion or so adherents to that faith worldwide, and Jesus Christ, Himself in a blog post entitled, 'What would Jesus do and say about Occupy Wall Street?'
Union College Conservatives recently showed It’s Not Evil, Just Wrong -a critique of Al Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth.” This film, which documents the flaws in Gore’s movie, was used by the student group to educate their classmates in a constructive way.
One chilly October afternoon, students from the University of Syracuse chapter of the Collegian’s for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT) distributed 200 global warming fact sheets on campus highlighting three cold hard truths about global warming:
